CHILDREN’S drama and dance company Zylo Performance has organised a premiere for the children who attend this Summer’s film school, to see the films they write, act in, and direct, at the Pavilion cinema in Hailsham.
The film school courses teach children how to shape their stories into short films, create their character using costumes and makeup, and shoot their films.
Children use professional cameras, sound and lighting equipment, and tutors encourage them to think about the filming effects they can create, by using different angles and filming techniques. Children are involved throughout the filming process and learn about green screening, creating special effects and their own interactive film credits.
The premiere will give children the chance to see their finished film at a cinema and show their parents what they have achieved during their course.
Organiser Ryan Barker said: “Film school gives children the opportunity to take part in the process of making a film, from the original idea to the screening of the finished film, in an authentic setting.”
Film school runs two courses for seven to 11 year olds, which start on August 6 and August 13. There is an extra week this summer, for children aged from 12 to 16, which starts on August 20. The courses run for four days from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Thursday, with the premiere at 5pm on Friday. Each course costs £135 per child, with a £15 discount for each child if one or more siblings attend. Bookings and enquires can be made via the website at www.zyloperformance.co.uk
