Chailey and Newick Colts Football Club have got the ball rolling in their latest season thanks to a sponsorship deal with Taylor Wimpey South Thames.

The local housebuilder donated £500 to the club to fund new kits for the under-12s team. This season under-12s compete in the Sussex Sunday Youth league which kicked off in September, sporting their new maroon and sky blue kits adorned with the Taylor Wimpey logo.Chairman Nigel Dean said: “On behalf of the Colts I would like to say how grateful we are to receive this sponsorship. Our club is run entirely by volunteers who give up their time and energy to help and we welcome all children. We aim to make coaching as accessible as possible by keeping the fees really low but we can only achieve this through generous sponsorship from organisations like Taylor Wimpey, so we’d like to say a big thank you.”

The club has 120 members and is rapidly growing with seven teams from under-8s up to under-16s as well as ‘little kickers’ section for children aged five to seven. Taylor Wimpey offered to sponsor the club after an appeal for support. Team manager Paul Ames said: “This season we aim to raise £15,000 towards the £60,000 cost of refurbishing our dilapidated club house. Chailey Parish Council has offered to contribute £35,000 so we are looking to raise the rest through sponsorship and grants and haven’t been able to think about buying new kits! Taylor Wimpey were very generous helping us achieve our goal and their sponsorship is really appreciated by the boys and the entire club!”
