Lewes district children’s art charity Patina is playing its part in the town’s Late Night Shopping evening on Thursday (December 5) by staging a lantern procession.
In collaboration with Lewes Town Council and local young people’s organisations including the Woodcraft Folk, the 4th Landport Youth Group and Sussex Downs College, the procession will display an array of beautiful lanterns made by the young people themselves at special workshops run by Patina artists.
Led by Mayor Cllr Ruth O’Keeffe, the procession will leave Harveys Yard on Cliffe High Street at 6pm and wend its way up to the Castle Precinct, finishing at around 6.30pm.
In response to the popularity of the initiative, Patina is organising an additional lantern-making workshop at the Landport Community Centre, Lewes, tomorrow (Saturday) between 2.30pm and 5.30pm.
Places are free and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis – please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to register your child’s name, parent/carer name and phone number. Workshop participants are asked to commit to participation in the procession, meeting at 5.15pm at Harveys Yard opposite Bill’s.
The Patina lantern procession is held with the kind support of Lewes Town Council and the Blunt Trust.
