I would like to thank the many people who gave their time and talents to make this year’s Old Town Carnival an event to be proud of.
The fact that we were graced with so many Carnival Courts from Kent owes much to the efforts of the Hastings Carnival Court and the untiring work of Bob Morgan, our chairman at promoting Hastings at their carnivals.
It was indeed a fitting climax to a wonderful Old Town Week which had a diversity of events that only the exuberance of the Old Town can provide. The colourful opening of the week coincided with the popular beach concert in aid of the RNLI, the HMBYC’s free Try a Boat weekend and also the annual Tug of War and that was just for starters.
Seaboot race, charity auction, Jim Read Memorial bike ride, Pram Race, street party and many open houses and exhibitions made for a colourful week for residents and visitors alike.
My only wish is that the generosity of the public will match the effort put in by so many young and not so young people for your enjoyment and for the benefit of local charities. Thank you.
