Bus cuts and the Bexhill/Hastings road link - perhaps Mr Baker can explain

I was pleased to see Norman Baker’s letter in the Express opposing the draconian bus cuts proposed by East Susssex Council.

I agree that even though the government has made big cuts to the money the council has available, they could have decided not to spend over £50 million of our money on the Bexhill/Hastings link road but what he doesn’t say is that the link road had to be agreed by the Department of Transport, at the time that he was one of the ministers in charge of that department.

To an outsider it looks as if he could have stopped the scheme.

Perhaps he could tell us what his role was and how he tried to influence the decision.
