Confusion over cannibis in drug law proposal

Your correspondent Michael Richards seems rather confused about drug laws.

Cannabis is already legally prescribed through the NHS in the form of Sativex, and I understand what our MP Norman Baker was saying, he wants to widen the range of conditions for which cannabis is available. Furthermore, he states: “You cannot classify a drug as illegal and then allow it to be used by a limited population without incurring criminal liability.” This of course is rubbish. What about all the morphine used in hospitals? Medicinal and recreational use of drugs is not the same thing, Mr Richards.
