Cyclists should be confined to correct carriageways

It appears that Clive Aberdour from Seaford, (letters, October 25), in common with some cycling enthusiasts of Eastbourne, does not understand the definition of the word ‘promenade’; a public and leisurely walk.

A bicycle is a vehicle and as such should be confined to the correct carriageway. To avoid harm I don’t walk along roads and I don’t expect vehicles to encroach upon my use of pavements or promenades.
