Bomb-proof? (Sussex Express, “Premier Inn’s design is hideous” June 20) The old Magistrates’ Court was supposed to be resistant to the IRA’s cowardly tactics but times have changed.
Now there’s no such thing as a “bomb-proof” building; it just depends on the size of your bomb and the religious zeal of the bomber.
Though I suppose this might be a unique selling-point for a Lewes Premier Inn, especially around Bonfire – “Come and stay in our (allegedly) bomb-proof hotel!”
Maybe they could attract more Catholic tourists? But I remain unconvinced. This ‘orrible eighties edifice is most definitely a Grade-A carbuncle and not worth saving - demolish it with extreme prejudice and let’s move on.
