Flowers mourn the felling of a 300-year-old Hellingly pine tree

A beautiful bunch of flowers which has suddenly appeared – this morning – on the stump of the majestic pine tree which was slaughtered here in the churchyard a few weeks ago.

The message is obvious. It illustrates the enormous strength of feeling about the felling of this tree that exists locally. They were not, I assure you, put there by me!
