In the past, North’s Seat offered the visitor a stupendous panorama to the Downs, the Weald, across Rye Bay, out to Kent and even to France.
If you go there today, however, most of this landscape is obscured thanks to neglect of the area, which has permitted the growth of gorse and scrubby trees.
Only fragments of the former spectacle remain. For instance to the south west you have an inspirational glimpse of the flats at Hollington but not Beachy Head.
Two years ago I wrote to HBC Parks Dept suggesting restoration of this wonderful viewpoint but nothing has been done though just a couple of hours work with a chainsaw would at least open up the view of the Downs.
