LETTER: Excellent MP

Maria Caulfield, incumbent MP for Lewes, is claiming that the Liberal Democrats neglected the constituency for two decades.

This is totally untrue. Norman Baker was an excellent MP. He lived locally and always had a very visible presence in the area.

He helped and supported thousands of constituency residents including myself, was instrumental in the building of the Beddingham by-pass thus easing traffic congestion into Lewes, made a point of questioning Parliament – he did not sit in docile acceptance, and was generally supportive and accountable to the local people. He is very much missed. Our new LibDem candidate Kelly-Marie Blundell will make an admirable successor.
