LETTER: In a bad state

Ref: the A26 trunk road which is in a bad state of repair since the East Sussex County Council sold it over to Highways England with heavy vehicles pounding the roads every day.

It breaks up the tarmac quicker. If more were put on it would give at least five years wear like our European Highways who only maintain every five years with the council tax going up. What are people getting for their money?

Another road leading from the by-pass to the Lewes tunnel is also in a bad way. This does not encourage tourists to Sussex. We are not taking pride in our county. Our roads should be top priority before anything else. After a discussion with Highways England the A26 work will start the end of March.
