LETTER: You'll get a warm welcome

Liberal (with a small '˜L') supporters and members of the Labour and Conservative Parties must have watched in dismay as their Leaders turned their backs on the moderate centre ground '˜on which general elections are won' in the last fortnight.

They will find a warm welcome from the Liberal Democrats. The party is well on its way to recovery with a huge influx of new members and a string of by-election victories.

Both major parties have been taken over by zealots, Labour bent on losing the next election and the Tories on destroying the political consensus and the economy. The coups carried out by the extremists are undemocratic.

Policies made on the hoof by an unelected Prime Minister and ministers announced at a party conference are unacceptable. The Lib Dems at least have the vehicle with which we can resist them. We are stronger together, so come on over.
