Your article (Observer, December 5) correctly noted that season ticket holders will not be offered the option of using HS1 as an alternative to London Bridge.
This was not a campaign that SHRIMP was involved in, because we were aware that Southeastern and Network Rail were in discussions with Transport for London (TfL) about ticket acceptance on other transport modes without excess charge.
This was duly noted in the article and details of the acceptance programme is available on the various websites.
It is important to note that there are restrictions on usage eg tickets will only be accepted at the stated major stations, not in-between stops. Ticket holders are advised to familiarise themselves with the arrangements or face normal penalty fare charges.
There is an important factor, not reported, that any affected season ticket holders must be aware of and act upon. Any season ticket issued before November 13, 2014 which is valid until after January 11, 2015 must be re-coded, free of charge, or it will not be accepted through the various automated gate-line systems. All tickets, including those purchased online, can be re-coded at any Southeastern station.
It is strongly recommended that this change is adopted sooner rather than later to avoid confusion or delays.
This winter marks the beginning of the major reconstruction works within the London Bridge station rebuild. For long periods, starting with a two-week period covering Christmas and New Year and subsequently from early January 2015, services to/from Charing Cross will not be able to call at London Bridge for at least 18 months.
There will be knock-on effects at other London termini including Victoria which will receive some diverted services (but not those from Hastings). Direct Cannon Street services will operate during these periods.
