Reassuring public over Lewes’s St Anne’s site is most welcome

Thank you for your article (Express, Friday, September 12) concerning the community use of St Anne’s.

You write that Subud are the new owners of the St Anne’s site, when in actual fact at this stage we are the winning bidders.

As your sister article in last Friday’s publication also stated, ESCC have invited an external party to review the process of the bid to reassure Lewes residents about their process.

We welcome a chance for the council to reassure the public about the process of the bid. The council are certain that the process was fair and transparent and that they made the correct choice for Lewes. A review that can reassure the community of Lewes that this was the case is a positive move.

As our plans for the site have always included community involvement and consultation, this public scrutiny has given much publicity to our proposals and hopefully improved our community reach and engagement.

We are holding an open evening at which we welcome ideas and any concerns for the site. The details of the next open evening are Friday, September 26, from 7-8.30pm at the Subud Centre, 26a Station Street, Lewes, BN7 2DB.

On behalf of Anabella Ashby,

Chair, Subud Lewes
