Thanks for generous donations

The committee would like to thank our citizens for their generosity during the period September 6 to 13 when the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) made a collection for our charity, in support of ex-RAF servicemen who now find themselves in need of help and support.

This was our last collection as a unique branch as we will amalgamate with the Bexhill and Battle branches in the very near future. Hence we made a concerted effort to collect as big a sum as we could for our final appeal.

We had three regular collectors for all those days plus help from the Hastings and St Leonards Veterans Association and on the final day, 304 Squadron Air Cadets from Bulverhythe.

Altogether a very respectable sum was accumulated and forwarded to the RAFA’s headquarters. This was £4,579.14, a really spendid effort by the collectors and a tribute to their hard work.

We would like to thank Hastings Borough Council and the Priory Meadow Shopping Centre for allowing the collection.

Finally, although we are not a unique branch the usual Battle of Britain Remembrance church service will still happen at Blacklands Church in Hastings on a yearly basis in mid September. This is by courtesy of the Hastings and St Leonards Veterans Association which will organise and lay on the ceremony on behalf of the RAFA.
