The racing pigeon that came to visit

We had a racing pigeon trying to spend the night on Friday, August 9, in our garage, but after some persuading it finally perched for the night on our kitchen window ledge.

We looked up what to do and the suggestion was to feed it with crushed cornflakes and supply sugared water. It had flown by morning leaving two large calling cards.

If someone was expecting it home at the weekend, we hope it made it. The number on its ring was GB 12 L 48401.

Would very much like to know where it was going or where from, if anybody knows.
