Tracing Waldron’s First World War heroes

In the village of Waldron we are investigating the history of the men from here who fought and died in the First World War and whose names appear on our War Memorial.

There are no less than 54 names on it from the conflict. We would very much like to hear from descendants or family relatives of these brave men to see if we can trace any photographs or other memorabilia of how they died.

We are aware of National Archives which identify the men and list their place of burial, but would like to include more personal information from their families in an exhibition we are preparing.

We would of course take great care of any loaned material and return it conscientiously.

If anyone has any information and would be prepared to talk to us about it, please contact Valerie Chidson, on 01435 812036, initially.
