Why the return of the yellow lines?

I am amazed at how East Sussex County Council manage to waste Council Tax Payers’ hard earned cash.

Recently the double yellow lines were ‘blacked out’ on a very short stretch of Marshall Lane in Newhaven, whilst it didn’t look particulalry professional many cars were now parking on this small stretch of road - probably only enough for two small cars max - on the end of a line of marked parking spaces.

There didn’t seem to be any problems with this, no blocking the road - it’s quite a wide road and over half the length of it allows parking anyway - or the turning area at the end of the road, Marshall Lane is a dead-end road.

This continued for a few months, and I have to say I parked there on the odd occassion when popping into town for a moment when going out, but having driven there today to park I noticed the double yellow lines have now been repainted!

Why? They aren’t needed there and parking there caused no problems to anyone.

Well done East Sussex County Council for not only wasting money but also making it just that little bit more difficult to park in Newhaven.

Are they trying to tell us something?
