THE BASE management committee thanked Sussex Police for a £250 donation from the Police Property Act.

PCSO Lee Torbet presented Seaford young mayor Amy Gough with the cash.

The committee has been looking for funding to develop the Base and install utilities, as well as a toilet.

Chairman Paul Heseltine said: “The management committee has been very active in gaining support and momentum for The Base and receiving this additional funding will greatly assist with our plans.

“Whether it is a place to meet friends, undertake band practice or attend drop-in sessions run by the Youth Development Service, The Base is in a fantastic location with lots of exciting potential.

“We would love for teenagers, parents and interested parties to join our committee or become members of The Base and help keep this unique facility in full use.”

The committee is appealing for people to donate their skills and time for free to revamp the building, which is located in The Salts Recreation Ground in Seaford.
