THE OWNER of a Chinese takeaway in Crowborough has been told she can’t put up a sign.
Mrs Guiqiao Jiang appealed to a Government inspector to overturn a decision made by Wealden District Council.
John Papworth visited the Yummy House restaurant in London Road in November and said the fascia sign illuminated by a lighting trough on brackets were in place.
In his report he said the takeaway is in one of a pair of prominent buildings.
He considered the sign was too deep and unbalanced the architectural qualities of both buildings to the detriment of the street scene.
And he is of the view that the sign causes harm and concludes the display is ‘detrimental to the interests of amenity.’
