This is the height of stupidity on the part of the Sussex Archeological Society. If the site can be damaged with their permission, why even bother with a caretaker organization? Evidently, it doesn't matter to them that this important historical and religious site is destroyed, so maybe it's time for a new group to take charge. One that gives a ****!

Having previously been excellent custodians of this site, the Sussex Archaeological Society have suddenly acted in an unblievable way. The comment that people walk all over sites such as stonehenge is ridiculous. The ground at Stonehenge isn't at a steep angle with constant danger of soil erosion down a slope! The local Pagan community are now effectively the custodians of this site, since for the moment it is they who have the best interests of the Long Man at heart. This cannot continue. When the programme makers started driving sticks into the ground around the figure it was Pagans who had to report this to the Archaeologists by phone, as there was no supervision of the site by the owners. Only once it was reported did they tell the programme makers to remove them. This is a scandalous failure of custodianship.

After seeing photographs and first hand reports regarding this disrespectful and damaging publicity stunt I must express a view of no confidence in the Sussex Archaeological Society’s ability as stewards of the Long Man for giving permission for this filming. This stunt will encourage others to walk on the site and sets a bad example, as such I ask ITV to think twice before broadcasting this footage.

I'm curious at how dozens of women dressed like giant contents of semen desecrating a pagan site of worship "empowers" women? If that's "empowering" to women, I am ashamed to be of the same sex as these irresponsible vandals.

For a bunch of 'style-guru's'.. these people show a remarkable LACK of taste, whilst trampling on other people's Religious feelings.. What's next? Are they going to crucify a WOMAN to 'empower' Christian women? I doubt it.. and I hope they wont. As a Dutch Pagan, I hope there will be sites left to visit after this lot is done...

The idea that such a stunt "empowers" women is utterly fatuous. The lack of responsibility by the so-called custodians is appalling. One would have hoped that British taste was not so driven by a tasteless scramble for ratings to willfully damage as fragile site. For shame, Trinny and Suzanne and even more for shame to the Sussex archeological society for allowing this circus.

The 'Trinny & Susannah' TV show specialises in producing vain, money-making gimmicks for bored housewives concerned about their figure and the producers had no right to desecrate this holy site. As a Wodenist I consider this site to be of immense spiritual importance and the 80 shallow and unthinking outsiders who took part in this lame venture should be ashamed of themselves.

Thank you to this website for actually publishing pictures of what T&S did to the site. I hadn't wanted to comment until I saw the pictures. Leaving aside all issues of permanent damage to the site which I'm not qualified to comment on, can I just say that I'm appalled that a spiritual site can be trivialised like this. Just becuase Paganism is a peaceful, minority religion, it doesn't mean that it can be made fun of like this. Other religions wouldn't put up with it!

Quite apart from their argument that they had permission for this stupid stunt, they don't seem to care that they have made a mockery of an important historic landmark that very many people consider to be a religious/sacred site - they never asked permission for that! What religion are they planning to offend next or are they only picking on Pagans? And how on earth is that 'empowering women'? They've made every woman who took part (including themselves) look like a laughing stock!
