Is this person an archaeologist? Is she aware of the nature of the site in any way at all? Or does the fact that she "had permission" remove all responsibility on her part for what she did? An apology from just ONE of the participants would go a long way. I wonder if any of them are brave enough?

By walking on the site for two days they MAY of added to the soil erosion. ITV could of caused damage by pushing green sticks in the archaeology sensitive area and I have photo's to prove they did.

"we literally walked up the hill, laid down in the positions they told us to and made different shapes" Now this isn't really honest is it? They walked up the hill at least 3 times and around on the hill for seveal hours on both days. we have photographs of them lying on the blocks, which they were not supposed to do. We also have a picture of one of them scrambling over a clearly damaged bank on the edge of one of the scarp steps. Interesting that they choose to try to minimise what they did though. And very telling.

What a lot of rubbish, sorry is that the voice of a person trying to justify any damage they have done by deflecting any attention away to the pagans by saying they were "abusive"!? Absolute tosh.

A total lack of respect has been shown to all pagans and our ancient heritage. I am outraged and disgusted with the producers, ITV, T&S for thinking that this would make good TV and it beggars belief that permission was given by the SAS. No apology just the repeat words "we had permission" what to stick green stakes in the ground in the most archaeologically sensitive areas?? I don't think so somehow.

Erm wait a minute here, when we spoke to Trinny and Susanah at the pre interview in the carpark, her argument for doing this stunt was that it was a culmination for these woman who had taken part for a long time and this would be their final celebration of their spiritual journey of transformation to empower themselves. So why then were these local dancers drafted in to do this stunt, and incidentally, I was there on the front line of the protest, why did I see amongst them Men dressed in boilersuits mascarading sheepishly as women. trying to hide themselves. It was a total fiasco from start to finish and far from empowering these women, it turned out to be an exercise that made them all look folish, espescially when you compare them to the people dressed in boiler suits in the Woody Allen Sketch of the Spermatosa

This story displays yet again that the media feels rules don't apply to them. This is a scheduled ancient monument with clear signs asking people not to walk on ANY of the hillside due to erosion. The only reason people should be on that hillside is for maintenance purposes, certainly not to advertise a TV program. Trinny and Susannah should be ashamed and apologetic not hiding behind the thin excuse that they were 'empowering women'. What they have instead managed to do is demean and potentially damage our nations heritage for no reason at all. Incidentally, I am not a pagan, however I do care about our nations heritage unlike some it seems.

It is painfully obvious that the contributor to this story has no idea whatsoever about the nature of this vulnerable and important site. Simply walking on this site can cause damage, a fact made worse by the heavy rain we have been having lately. Once again I express my opinion that I have no confidence in the Sussex Archaeological Society’s stewardship of the Long Man after this disrespectful event.

I have a small degree of sympathy initially for the paricipants in this stupid stunt. If ITV told them that they had permission , and they did not realise the signifigance of the site or the damage that could be caused when they agred to take part..thats fair enough I suppose. However .. It is surely hard for them to continue to justify there participation after the event given the amount of coverage given to the reasons why it was wrong to do this!...Participants should really just say sorry for taking part or say nothing!

Also the woman whos defending her actions is the leader of the dance group, so she herself is responsible for leading the group astray. I wonder how much filthy luchre ITV gave her to get her to lead her friends up the hill.
