THE 13th episode of my weekly column Dripping Yarns was due to appear this week, and boy what an unlucky and bittersweet week it has been. Controversy rages on the fans' forum and other media over the shock departure of Steve King's and the likely disbanding of his fantastic championship-winning team.
Fans have generally divided into pro-King or pro-Board factions. I support both and, believe me, it feels very uncomfortable up here on the fence.

However, it is clear that changes are coming even though it is a great pity that things have come out in such a disjointed and piece-meal fashion. I'm sure nobody wanted it this way but football at all levels breeds passion and ambition and a thirst for information from dismayed supporters.

Whilst we wait for more details of what the future holds for Lewes Football Club, I feel it appropriate to simply wish Steve King the very best of luck in whatever football management role he secures, and thank his entire Mighty Rooks 2007 squad for a brilliant and entertaining season.

Their winning ways can never be taken away from us. I am also sure that Lewes FC will go on and in time we will be a happy band of supporters once again – with wonderful memories to look back on and exciting times ahead.

  • David Arnold is the Secretary of the Lewes FC Supporters Club.
