STEVE KING may have gone but he has certainly not been forgotten by the fans of the teams that competed in the Blue Square South last season.
Supporters voted in their thousands for the former Rooks boss King to be the 'clear winner' and recipient of the title manager of the year in the Blue Square Fan Awards.
In a letter sent to King, Blue Square sponsorship manager Matt Cook said, "Co
ngratulations once again for your achievements last season.
"Whilst these achievements have been recognised in a number of ways so far, I write to inform you that you were voted the winner of the Blue Square Manager of the Year in the Blue Square Fan Awards.
"Over 5,000 fans voted across a number of categories and you were a clear winner in the managerial award. The fact that it was not just Lewes fans that were voting for you highlights how your efforts were appreciated by football fans – irrespective of team affiliation.
"I have no doubt we will see you back in football soon and hope that you will maybe secure one of those Manager of the Month trophies that somehow eluded you last season!"
Five of King's championship-winning squad were also named in the Blue Square South Team of the Season. They were skipper Steve Robinson, Ian Simpemba, Jay Conroy, Gary Holloway and Paul Booth.
King – who is pictured with the awards he received from Blue Square – said, "It's a great honour to be voted the supporters' manager of the year – particularly when so many of the people who voted were not even supporters of the team I managed.
"And I am delighted to see five of my championship-winning squad selected in the Blue Square South Team of the Year too."
