STEVE Johnson pledged to try and win the John O'Hara League Cup for Hervé King after his Ringmer side blew away East Grinstead 3-0 in the semi-final on Wednesday evening.
Johnson's brave troops won their second game in four days in their first week back playing since tragic King died after collapsing during a game against Three Bridges.

Two goals from prolific Marc Whiteman and one from Joe Dryer was enough to send
the Blues to a final showdown against either Crawley Down or Shoreham.

And Johnson said, "It was probably what the club needed. It was very emotional after the game on Saturday, a bit draining.

"But we knew we had to get up for tonight. They're a decent side, East Grinstead. But 3-0 tells its own story.

"We've worked really hard to achieve two results. People were throwing themselves in front of things out there.

"Hopefully we can go on to win this cup for Hervé."

Ringmer enjoyed a flying start in the second minute of the game when Jack Johnson fed the ball through from midfield to Whiteman who beat the East Grinstead offside trap and fired past the exposed keeper.

Dryer extended Ringmer's lead in the 53rd minute with a characteristic left-footed strikes after Dan McLaughlin had tormented the EG defence on the edge of their penalty area.

Whiteman effectively secured Ringmer's place in the Final with a 70th minute strike from 20 yards, again set up by Johnson.

BLUES: J Adams, Soutar, Lawrence, Hunt (Finney 74), Patel, Gedling, McLaughlin, Whiteman, Dryer (Shaker 76), Barden, R McMillan.
