Lewes Football Club have confirmed that Kevin Keehan IS to be installed as new first team manager at the Dripping Pan.
The Sussex Express today met with board members at the club, who confirmed that the outgoing commercial manager at Brighton & Hove Albion would be replacing Steve King in the Rooks hot seat.

It was also confirmed that Aston Villa star Gareth Barry
, who used to play for Albion, had visited the club and was to be one of a potential number of sponsors to put cash into the club.

But directors Martin Elliott and Kevin Powell refuted claims that there had been any sort of 'takeover' or 'buy-out' of the club.

"Kevin Keehan will be an employee of the club," said Mr Powell.

A statement released by the club later in the day read, "Lewes FC can confirm that Steven King, the club manager, has left the football club.

"The club have for sometime been looking for more people to get involved with the club in preparation of the next phase in the development of Lewes FC.

"The club has been approached by a number of interested parties willing to help out in some way. It is also confirmed the Aston Villa star Gareth Barry, who used to play for Brighton & Hove Albion will be one of those potential sponsors.

"Kevin Keehan, formerly Commercial Manager at Brighton & Hove Albion, has been confirmed in the roles of Team Manager, Commercial Manger, and General Club Manager. He will announce others who will help him in due course.

"Martin Elliott, Managing Director of Lewes FC, denied any "take over" or "buy out" of the club, and emphasised Kevin Keehan will be an employee of the club, and that the current Board will still be involved.

"Lewes FC would like to thank Steven King for all his hard work over the last five years and wish him all the best in the future."

Pathetic. Truly shameful. Lewes FC are being sold down the river. The people responsible for this farcical move will surely never be able to hold their heads up in Lewes High St again. I would say "holds their heads high at the Dripping Pan" but as some of them could barely find it on a map that is a moot point. As for Keehan. He is taking this job from Steve King's hands, with the great probability of undoing all the fantastic work that King did? What kind of person can he possibly be? There is NOTHING in this whole debacle that suggests any concern or love of Lewes FC. It smacks of nothing more than avarice, nepotism and more than anything a lack of respect. When the "real story" comes out I imagine the full extent of the treachery will destroy the club once and for all.
