Seaford 1s 161-8 beat Plumpton 1s 110 all out by 51 runs
On winning the toss and looking to be positive Seaford Skipper Ollie Smith decided to bat first. When the scored reached 12-3 the decision did not like a good one. However, with the experience of previous matches the hosts batting is more resilient. A defiant 32 from opener Jon Reynolds plus some good middle and lower order contributions from Mitch Ellingham (28), Bilesh Jayamanne (20) and Curtis Cooper (21 not out), helped Seaford to a challenging 161-8 off 50 overs.
Top bowlers for the Plumpton were Chris Batchelor (3-18) and Richard Ward (2-45).
In reply the visitors innings never get going. The top three bats were removed for just 7 runs between them as Matt Broad (1-15) and Mark Sapwell (3-31) went on the rampage. The final rites were carried out by Mitch Backhouse as he came on and cleaned up the remaining batters with a fine spell of spin bowling to bag an excellent return of 6 for 12 off 8 overs.
Top scorers for Plumpton Stewart Fuller (28) and Batchelor (21).
Seaford 30 points and Plumpton 8 points.
