Board has still not made a decision on new Rooks manager, says Ibbo, after speculation rises about Steve King’s return to the Pan

The Board of Lewes Football Club has still not made its final decision on who will be its new manager, so said club chairman Steve Ibbitson this afternoon.

Speculation was increased today about a possible shock return to the Dripping Pan for Steve King.

Former Rooks boss King has resigned as manager of Farnborough, the news of his departure being announced on the club website this morning.

But Lewes FC chairman and former 1st team coach, Ibbo, said the Board of Directors still had to decide between a final three candidates believed to be still in the running.

Ibbitson said: “The Board like all three of them. It’s a difficult decision but the process is going well.

“We haven’t made a final decision yet but hopefully we will have before too long.

“We have said to candidates that ideally we will have liked to have made a decision by the early part of the week.”

King managed the Sussex club between 2003 and 2008, when he was controversially forced to leave his post having just guided the team to the Blue Square South title.

The Rooks first team manager’s post is vacant after the departure of Tim O’Shea following the club’s relegation to the Ryman Premier.
