RINGMER’s Sussex County League Division One match against Rye United was abandoned at the Caburn at half time on Tuesday night because of a floodlight failure.
It will now be replayed on a date to be announced.
The Blues website reports: “Everything was fine until a couple of minutes before the break when the lights on one of the pylons went out while a Ringmer player was down injured. The first half was completed (with the score 0-0), but the second wasn’t even started.
“The problem floodlight was the same one which went out during the rain-soaked reserve team match between the two clubs last Friday night, this was resolved after a while and the light remained on for the rest of the match.
“Despite extensive testing over the weekend, it remained on without faltering and it was thought that everything was fine and it had been a hiccup on the night.
“The club is now investigating the problem deeper, which is obviously more than a visiting gremlin. Ringmer apologise to all supporters and teams for this inconvenience and hope to see them at the replay sometime in the near future.”
