Tony Coade’s first game in charge saw Haven overcome league leaders Margate 2-1.
The game’s first chance came in the second minute when Margate’s Ryan Moss volleyed wide from Tambeson Eyong’s sharp cross.
On seven minutes The Gate score, with Ryan Moss latching on to a ball over the top, rounding the keeper and sliding into an open net.Three minutes later Nikki Bull in the home goal made a fine save to deny Josh Jones after some slack defending.
With the home side pushing for a second goal, on twenty three minutes John Beales headed over the bar from a Sam Rents free-kick.
On 29 minutes The Magpies drew level as Tom Burton rose above the Margate defence and nodded home via the post from a Josh Jones’ cross. Shortly after, Di Bernardo pulled off an unbelievable save when he kept out Ryan Moss’ close range effort. Luke Moore blazed the rebound over the bar under pressure.
Two minutes later The Magpies keeper was again the hero as he pulled off another great save this time diving to his left to keep out Ryan Moss’ low header.On 36 minutes Tom Burton shot wide of the near post from a Jamie Brotherton’s low cross.
Straight after the restart Margate went on the attack and Ryan Moss headed wide.
On the hour mark, Haven’s stopper Antony Di Bernardo saved a sharp left foot effort from Ryan Moss. A minute later Kane Wills received the ball on the edge of the visitor’s box, shooting just wide of the post.
With eleven minutes remaining Wilfred Grimaud (pictured) got in behind the Margate defence and lifted the ball over the advancing home keeper into the net to put The Magpies 2-1 ahead.
Deep into added time Haven’s Wilfred Grimaud clattered a shot against the post after a defensive mistake.
The next home game is on Saturday when the Magpies entertain Maidstone Utd.
