SAMMY DONNELLY has taken over as manager of Ringmer Football Club.
The former Horsham YMCA boss is set to take the reins for the first time for the Blues game against Hassocks on Friday.
A statement on the club website read: “Ringmer FC are pleased to announce the appointment of Brian ‘Sammy’ Donnelly as first team manager forthwith.
“His first match as manager will be Friday 6th January at Hassocks.
“Tony Coade, the present manager, will be staying with the club and will now concentrate on the coaching side and work alongside Sammy.
“Sammy comes to us from a spell at Horsham YMCA; he has had 35 years’ management experience, previous clubs including: Whitehawk, Eastbourne Town, Eastbourne United, Lancing, Worthing, Shoreham and Three Bridges.
“Over this 35-year period, he has won every honour in Sussex football. He has also been a scout for Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“Apart from managing Ringmer, Sammy is also currently the Manager of the Sussex County Representative team.
“Ringmer wish him well in his quest to get Ringmer out of the doldrums and back to their winning ways.”
Donnelly is quoted on the website as saying: “It was an opportunity I could not miss.”
