Late brace enough to give Rooks a well-earned win

Two late goals saw Lewes seal a rare but well-earned 2-0 win away to Maidenhead United on Saturday.

In only their fourth victory of the season – and the first since November – the Rooks put in a good all-round performance to defeat a badly out of form Magpies side.

The first goal came with 12 minutes to go from recent on loan signing Joe Tabiri when he scored through a crowded penalty area.

And the deserved three points were confirmed five minutes later when George Baker raced onto a long ball out of defence before firing a stunning shot from 25 yards that gave former Lewes goalkeeper Steve Williams no chance in the Maidenhead goal.
