Star Lewes Ladies player Naomi Cole has been selected to play for England.

The Rooks today received an email from national Women’s coach Hope Powell notifying the club that the former Arsenal, Millwall and Chelsea defender had been picked to play for her country in a four nations tournament next month.

The message from Powell read: “It is with pleasure that I am writing to you regarding your player who has been selected for the forthcoming 4 Nations Tournament which will take place in La Manga, Spain.

“Once again thank you for your continued support.”

Cole’s coach at the Dripping Pan, Jacquie Agnew, said: “Naomi has been selected to play for her country and we are delighted that her hard work this season has been recognised.

“For Lewes FC to have an international player is truly magnificent
