Lewes win away at Luton to complete unbeaten league campaign

LEWES Ladies beat Luton on Sunday to remain unbeaten in their Championship-winning season, having dropped only two points, at MK Dons in March.

manager Jacquie Agnew said: “Offensively and defensively we have been magnificent throughout the season and the players deserve all the credit.

“Dave Baker, the Luton manager, came over and congratulated us after, the game saying we are deserved champions and the best side he has seen in this league for some time.”

The team’s achievements this season will be recognised at tomorrow’s (Saturday) men’s home game when the team will parade the trophies at half time, and then on May 2 when they will be hosted by Lewes Mayor Cllr John Stockdale in a Civic Reception at Lewes Town Hall.

After that, preparation begins in earnest for Lewes’ debut season in the Premier League!
