A soggy day saw just three games go ahead for county league teams in our area, with mixed results.
Peacehaven stretched their unbeaten run to 21 games with a 2-1 win at home to Hassocks.
Ryan McBride put the Tye ahead on 40 minutes before Rob South levelled for the visitors five minutes later.
But Ashley Rees bagged the winner midway through the second half to extend his side’s winning run to 14 straight games and put Peacehaven three points clear at the top of Sussex County League Division One.
However, Newhaven will have wished their game in division two hadn’t survived the county-wide washout as they suffered only their second defeat of the season when they were thrashed 6-1 away at Midhurst and Easebourne.
The hosts’ goals came courtesy of Norgate, on 15 minutes, Azare, on 20, 35 and 55 minutes, and Hyde, on 68 and 82 minutes. The Dockers’ consolation strike came via Lee Robinson with 10 minutes to play.
Despite the defeat the Dockers remain top of the table.
At the wrong end of Div 2, Saltdean United’s rotten run went on with an 8-0 defeat at home to Little Common. Their goals came from Russell Eldridge (7 mins), Lewis Hole (18, 39), Dominic Cruttenden (44, 86, 87) and Jamie Crone (40, 89).
