Former Rooks player Simon Wormull has returned to Lewes FC as the club’s youth team manager.
Wormull, a popular member of the 2008 Blue Square South title-winning side, returned to the Dripping Pan for a spell last season before moving on to Three Bridges in the County League.
He retired from playing football at the end of last season, and new Lewes manager Steve King has acted quickly to add one of his former players to his management team.
King said: “I’ve brought him on board because I think he’s a great example to kids of how to play the game. His coaching style will mirror that of the first team. In fact, he’ll also be working with the first team so that we can have really close links between the two sides.”
Lewes has a proud reputation for nurturing youth team players, and Wormull’s appointment is bound to be well-received by players and supporters alike.
A Lewes FC spokesman said: “The club would like to officially thank Chris Rivers for his work as youth team manager last season, following his decision to stand down last month.”
