AFC Uckfield went down heavily 8-0 away to Horsham YMCA on Saturday.

The Uckers lost this SCFL Div 1 match heavily thanks mainly to a hat-trick from Elliot Romain. He opened the scoring after just six minutes before Ashley Dugdale doubled the hosts’ advantage four minutes later. Martin Smith made it 3-0 just three minutes after that to make it a nightmare start for the Oaks outfit.

Romain’s second of the game came on 20 minutes, and Smith hit his second three minutes later. Romain rounded off his hat-trick three minutes before the break to make it 6-0 by half-time.

AFC dug in a bit more after the break and didn’t concede again until the 78th minute, when Dan Sullivan scored. Dean Cox rounded off the rout with five minutes to go.

Elsewhere in County League Div 1, Hailsham Town drew 0-0 away to Arundel.
