AFC Uckfield manager Simon Rowland has left the Oaks outfit to join Burgess Hill Town FC as assistant manager.
Former player Rowland has joined as Gary Croydon’s assistant after Andy Gander resigned just a day after the end of the current season.
Rowland had just guided AFC Uckfield to the County League Division 2 title but is clearly ambitious and was keen to step up a rung to Ryman Division 1 football.
Croydon said: “I’m sure Simon will add that burst of energy that perhaps I and the team need. He will be working closely with me and Ashley Carr.
“Andy stood down simply because he does not have the time to devote to this level of football. He was clever enough to realise that.
“As for Simon, he has proved he has what it takes to produce a winning team and I’m sure AFC Uckfield must be very disappointed to lose him. But their loss is our gain.”
Rowland is likely to be thrust into the limelight as Croydon takes another extended break in the autumn.
