Injury ravaged Eastbourne saw their hopes of picking up points on the road dashed as they went down to a 51-41 defeat at Wolverhampton’s Monmore Green stadium on Monday evening.
It proved to be two makeshift looking teams who took to the track, the Eagles missing heatleader duo, Joonas Kylmakorpi, for whom Birmingham’s Danny King proved an able stand-in, and Simon Gustafsson, who’s absence was again covered by the Rider Replacement facility.
Wolverhampton also used R/R for Pontus Aspgren.
On track, the short-handed Eagles battled and for the most part kept within sight of their hosts but were woefully short of heat winners. They only managed two all night – in heats five and 14 – both of which ended as 5-1s for the visitors.
