FIFA president Sepp Blatter has released a statement after what he calls ‘unfortunate events’ today. Blatter says it is a ‘difficult’ time for his organisation and for football in general, after the Swiss authorities and the FBI arrested 14 FIFA members this morning. (The Mirror)

European football’s governing body has called for the Fifa presidential elections to be postponed after the arrests in Switzerland today of seven senior officials accused by the FBI of taking millions of dollars in bribes and kickbacks. (The Times)
