Hailsham Hornets in top form at Bracknell meet

Hailsham swimming club competed at the Bracknell and Wokingham long course open meet, on the 17th and 18th May 2014.

The team made a massive impact in the pool, at this level 1 gala, taking away 12 medals and finishing in ninth place overall in the visiting club rankings.

Brilliant performances by Ben Kebbell saw him awarded the ‘Top Boy’ trophy in the 15 years age group. Ben gained gold in 200m Freestyle and 200m Breaststroke, silver in 400m Freestyle, bronze in 100m Freestyle, as well as fourth place finishes in 200m Backstroke and 200m Breaststroke.

Craig Steenhoff was on top form and took away the award for gaining the most points in the 16 years and over age group category. Craig’s successful weekend of racing achieved him silver in 200m Backstroke and 100m Butterfly, and bronze in 100m Backstroke.

Strong swims by Bethany Collins (14) led her to victory in the 100m Backstroke, as she gained gold in a race time of 1.13.30. Bethany also achieved a silver medal in the 50m Freestyle.

Ten year old Frankie Lee was rewarded with a silver medal, after a determined 200m Butterfly swim. Tom Barden (11) gained valuable racing experience and attained a bronze medal, competing in his first 1500m Freestyle event. Well done to Milly Widdop (10) for battling hard in the 100m Butterfly to bring home a bronze medal.
