Ibbo relishing a tough Chelmsford test

STEVE Ibbitson says his Lewes players will not go into Saturday's league match with Chelmsford with an "inferiority complex".

Saturday's visitors to the Dripping Pan are living up to their billing as one of the favourites for promotion and currently lie in third place in the Blue Square South.

They beat Lewes 2-1 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, a scoreline that rather flattered The Rooks, and despite Ibbitson's respect for this weekend's opposition, he says his side will go into the game with no fear.

"Chelmsford are very similar to Braintree, very strong in all departments and along with Braintree and Newport they are probably one of the best sides we have played," he said.

"They beat us 2-1 earlier in the season and the result probably flattered us as they had a player sent off.

"I was impressed with them and we are looking forward to playing them. We like playing the best sides because it's a good chance to test ourselves but we won't be going into it with an inferiority complex.

"We need the points, they need the points for opposite reasons so I'm sure it will be a good game and we'll be approaching it looking to win the game as we always do."

Lewes have not won in four league matches although three of those have been draws. A win on Saturday could lift them out of the bottom three however.

Jack Walder is back from suspension and should have shaken off a groin strain in time for the game. Fellow midfielder Williams Peauroux is more of a doubt with a persistent knee injury, although he did train this week.
