Ibbo set to make Rooks decision by 'middle of next week'

STEVE IBBISTSON is set to make a final decision on whether to stay on as Lewes FC manager "by the middle of next week".

The highly-regarded Rooks U18s coach has been interim first team manager since March, when under fire boss Kevin Keehan decided to quit the Dripping Pan hot seat.

Ibbitson presided over a revival of fortunes for the Rooks on the pitch, with a number of his youth team stars featuring in the first XI as they picked up two wins and a draw in their last six games in the Blue Square Premier.

'Ibbo' and his U18s colleague Jason Hopkinson would prove to be a very popular appointment as a permanent first team management duo should they make that decision.

And Ibbitson yesterday revealed to the Sussex Express that that decision – as well as a number of others – were set to be made in two "important" meetings in the coming days.

"There are a couple of important meetings in the next few days," he said.

"The decision (of whether to take up the first team role permanently] will be made by the middle of next week.

"But either way, we will be involved next season."

The meetings, believed to be today (Friday) and Monday, are also expected to discuss issues surrounding players' contracts.
