Magnificent seven for Blues boss Bob
RINGMER manager Bob Munnery has been speaking to as many as seven players who could turn out for the club once the county league registration date of July 1 has passed.
Ex-Lewes goalkeeper Jack Stern is one such player but news of his proposed arrival comes as the 22-year-old stopper Joe Adams heads to Burgess Hill.
Simon Greatwich has left for New York and Will Broomfield has gone to Kansas, both for college trials.
The development of the U18 set-up continues and training for the youth and senior side begins on Tuesday, June 30. Training sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays this year and will take place at Ringmer Community College.
Crowborough Atletic are looking for sponsorship and advertising ahead of the 2009/10 campaign to ensure the club starts off on firm foundations in the County League following last season's relegation from Ryman Division One South.
Although pre-season training doesn't begin until July 7, manager Stuart Nowell has confirmed that he is 'looking forward to the new season'.
Seaford Town manager Bob Laundon is interested in signing a number of ex-professionals as he looks to build on last season's seventh placed finish.
The players in question have turned out for such sides as West Ham United and Norwich City.
"They have been training with us and they are keen to sign," said Laundon, who confirmed that Three Bridges' Andy McNab is also in training.
"Every manager wants promotion but County League Division Two is tight and never easy," he added.
Meanwhile, the whole squad have signed new deals. Among these are goalkeeper Shelton Levett and young attacker Scott Dartnall who have dual contracts in place with Eastbourne Town.
Injury victims Seb Kazemi and Joe Cutress are back in training and should be ready for next season.
Newhaven manager Jason Tighe wants to give promotion "a massive go"' next season as he looks to add two or three players.
Tighe was disappointed at his team's habit of conceding late goals last season which hit their hopes of division two football.
However, he claims that, although division three is "getting harder and harder", the Dockers will have "a hell of a chance" if a few more players can be attracted to Fort Road.
The Dockers' training starts on Tuesday, July 2, at 7.30pm.
Paul Stevenson is hopeful of Saltdean United breaking into the top five next season and is targeting several players with county league division one experience in an attempt to achieve this.
Stevenson admitted he is not certain that any of the deals will go through but added, "There is no guarantee but we need to strengthen in order to progress."
Despite this, the manager says that, come August, the Tigers fans will be watching "the same squad as last season plus a few others".
