THE Phil Patrick Memorial Match between Buxted Park and an East Sussex League Over 40s team was played at Buxted Park on Monday.
The Buxted side, captained by Phil’s son, Mark, won the toss and elected to field. East Sussex totalled 179-5, with Nick Corbett hitting a very stylish 101 not out.
Colin Annis was the most successful Buxted Park bowler taking 2-25 .
When Buxted batted, Tim Burgess hit very aggressively, scoring 27 very quickly but Andy Shanks, with 2-10, and Paddy Smith, with 2-38, kept things in check. Derek Barnard took 4-21 and Peter Hartland 2-1 as the Buxted order collapsed and they were bowled out for 70. An excellent tea, provided by the Buxted ladies, then rounded off a day of remembrance.
Phil, who served both Buxted Park CC and the East Sussex League, died in 2010.
