Bob Wegner played for professional USA team Lake Michigan Admirals in the Always Ballin Brand - Basketball Megastore International Tournament hosted by Bexhill Giants at Bexhill College.

He also took part in the South East Tigers’ first exhibition basketball tournament of the season at the same venue last Thursday night.

Known as ‘Big Bob’, the 21-year-old stands at a whopping 7ft 8in, has a hand span of 28cm across and wears a US shoe size of 23 (UK 22).

He has approached the Guinness Book Of Records in an effort to verify if he is indeed the world’s tallest athlete and is waiting to hear back from them.

Wegner was 6ft 6in tall by the age of 13 and his ambition is to play in the NBA, ideally for Boston Celtics.
