There was a good turnout from Uckfield Runners for the Heathfield 10k, with 12 runners competing in the event.
This is a hilly course which is mostly downhill for the first 5k resulting in a quick time at halfway. But then it’s payback in the second half, in particular with a long climb from 8k until about 9.5k when you turn into the field at Cross In Hand to finish. The weather was ideal with a cool 13c, very little wind and no rain.
First home for Uckfield was Jason Hillier in 42.18, followed by Mark Slaughter in 43.37. Jason’s son, Jay Hillier, took third from Graham West just after 9k, Jay finishing in 45.40 and Graham in 45.47.
Also running were: Andrew Stolton 47.16, Charlotte Menzies 51.29, Catherine Harker 52.29, Peter Wilkes 54.56, Rebecca Stonebanks 55.44, Christopher Lugg 60.02, Sarah Ballinger 61.31 and Christine Tate 61.59.
