Eastbourne Speedway has announced the first two names on the team sheet for next season.

Bjarne Pedersen and Cameron Woodward will again be in the Eagles’ colours when the tapes go up next spring.

Team manager and co-promoter Trevor Geer was delighted to announce the return of Pedersen and Woodward. They were, he said, the backbone of last season’s team.

“Bjarne makes no secret of how much he enjoys riding for the Eagles. We get 100 per cent commitment from him and he is a tower of strength for us,” Geer said.

“Cameron has the heart of a lion and the phrase ‘never say die’ was made for him. Everyone knows Cam gives his all in every race and he is never beaten until the chequered flag drops.

“The great thing is that he keeps on improving year after year and both he and Bjarne are determined to have great years and lift Eastbourne into true title challengers,” Geer said.

Geer revealed he is also close to making more signings for the 2014 team but would not be drawn on any names.

He said: “Eastbourne’s policy is never to reveal who we are interested in bringing to the team until contracts have been signed.”

The club has three spaces to fill in the main body of the team plus the two British youngsters at six and seven.
