RISING speedway star Brandon Freemantle says he is living the dream after he signed for Eastbourne Eagles.

The 16-year-old rode for Hackney Hawks this season in the National League, and now he has made the switch to the Elite League’s Eagles, is eager for his first taste of the action at Arlington.

Capturing Brandon’s signature is the culmination of a long association between the Steyning Grammar School pupil and the club, who he first watched when he was ten.

“It’s every little kid’s dream to ride for their favourite team, and I am so happy I have signed for them,” Brandon said.

Throughout his early speedway career which has seen him win national age group titles, Brandon has been given support by the Eagles and star names such as Lewis Bridger and Cameron Woodward through use of equipment and also the backing of Gary Mason Builders.

Brandon does not expect to make his Eastbourne debut in 2012, and possibly not for another two years. It it likely he will be loaned out to a National League outfit to continue his development.

“Eastbourne have helped me out a lot and it was obvious I was going to sign for them,” he added.

“I’m not ready (to ride in the Elite League) yet. In a couple of years I will be, when I have more experience and knowledge. I have only done one season in league racing, the guys in the Elite League have at least a couple of years.”

Mum Christine remarked: “It has all happened so quickly, we are so proud.”
